How to store music ideas?

Hey guys,

So I've been producing music for a couple months now, but when I create a track I always just create a beat from scratch, play around with drum beats, samples and effects and see what happens.

However, whenever I'm out of the house working, I always get these really good ideas in my head, and I always wish I could store those ideas somewhere. I have a horrible memory so by the time I get home I've forgotten any ideas I came up with while I was working.

Is there a way to store these ideas or do I just have to try my best to remember them?

You could use something like this on the Nintendo 3DS. if you have one ;-)

I think it also has midi export via SD card....

I usually just hum into my phone. Apple's recent Music Memos is ok for this but I prefer Propellerhead's Take, as you can record three channels rather than just one. If I need something a bit more precise than humming like an idiot (and have the time) I'll just use Garageband. I'm sure there are plenty of others out there.

Sing into your phone brah, that's what I do. make sure you do a couple of takes, though. Don't be shy. you'll get used to the weird looks and social ostracizing...eventually.
