Fave little hardware synth

Post by mickmike » Sat Apr 02, 2016 10:43 pm

I've gone full circle, and putting a little hardware setup together. I've got a virus ti, but am gonna sell, cos although it's obviously great , I've never felt the love, so haven't given it the attention it needs. I'm into the Rocket, and Streichfett, cos I find more possibilities, when it's simple and fun. Wondering what synth gives you the love, and immediacy, without needing to be a synth professor

Have to give it up to the Minibrute. I found it fun right away.
The caveat is CV, but these days there are a few ways to get around that.

Sequential (DSI) Prophet 6 desktop module. Fast and easy to program. Sounds wonderful. DSI just added the effects from the OB6 to the Prophet 6 via OS update.

Reason behind the original question is I'm pretty sure I'm sidelining soft synths and unlovable midi controllers. Hardware, especially analog just sounds better. No argument can dissuade me. Plus it's more involved and fun. I've bought loads of soft synths over the years, but hardly ever used them cos it's just 2d on a screen at the end of the day. Bought a Rocket and volca beats, and feel the joy coming back. Flicking, twisting, and fiddling. And then I turn them on. :D

LOL.

There is a lot to be said for that immediate hands-on experience. I only have one analog synth (because I can't afford another for a long time...ha) but it's so easy and fast to program but there's plenty of scope to experiment and stumble upon crazy stuff.

I have a virus ti, and you can't compare it to the little rocket. But for some reason, I haven't made a real connection with it. Gonna try and incorporate into my new set up, ( mixing desk and all ), but at the moment can't see it being centre stage
