Convert audio clips in arrangement view to midi drum track

Post by renadvent » Wed Apr 06, 2016 12:25 am

i ordered a bunch of different sample clips of kicks, claps, etc into an audio track in the arrangement view. i now want to convert that collection so that it plays from a midi drum track instead of from an audio track so that it is easier to manipulate, and so i can have fewer total tracks in my project file etc. is there a way to do this?

Create a midi track with a drum rack in it, drag every audio sample to its own cell in the drum rack. Live will automatically put every sample in a simpler device within the rack.

OR first consolidate your audio to one single clip if it isn't in one clip already (select all clips, press cmd J). Then select "slice to new midi". Live will automatically slice up the audio into the different sounds that you can trigger from a midi clip then.

Live also does audio to midi conversion, see manual.
