Automatic MIDI Control of a Parameter when Mouse Clicked?

Post by mylkoa » Sun Apr 10, 2016 9:14 am

Hi All!

What is it called when you have a MIDI control element, say a CC nob, and you select a parameter in Live with your mouse, and that nob will automatically control that parameter without opening MIDI Map Mode and assigning it? And then, if you select another parameter in Live, that nob will control the new parameter, and stop controlling the first one you mouse clicked? Is it called “Dynamic Mapping”? I’m looking for search words to research the topic.

I would like to try making a control element on my Maschine Mk2 controller behave this way - two buttons, actually, not a nob. I want to assign two buttons to a single CC number, and have each button send incremental value changes of 1 and -1 respectively. I’m doing this, because I am building 128’s, and I want to scroll through the various samples, and I think it would be much easier to scroll through them using buttons with a single press. But I don't want to have to open MIDI Map Mode all the time to assign and then un-assign.

Thanks for your help!
