What can we expect with X?
I'm bored and speculating on what new goodies will be on this next major release. Touch support, An IOS port for Ipad Pro support? Lets here it...

VST 3/ARA integration (I'm dreaming of the latter).mekanism1200 wrote:I'm bored and speculating on what new goodies will be on this next major release. Touch support, An IOS port for Ipad Pro support? Lets here it...
OSC support.
iPad app called iPush.
Comping.
Sampler update (this is a no brained that Simpler just got a massive update. Sampler will probably get overhauled a good bit with probably a bigger sample library).
Probably some piano roll enhancements.
Nested Group Tracks.
Better curve support for automation.
Most likely more M4L enhancements.

To add to that list:
-More clip fade options like having clip fades always on
-Full screen mixer
-Customizable Toolbar
-MP3 export
-Fully customizable key commands
-Scroll to zoom
Not be an expensive upgrade, I'm not paying another $300 for an upgrade. If so its bye bye Abes. Ableton, your not Apple!

You're bored with speculating so you start a speculation thread in which you speculate... about a loop based DAW.
@jlgrimes, your post should have a snare

Re: What can we expect with X?
just a personal wish-list, but:
-new and vastly expanded rendering options, e.g. Bounce in Place, export with sends printed to channels, etc.
-the ability to place plugin FX on individual clips, with option to quick render them (check Studio One if you want to see this in action, it's great).
- piano roll can show content of other clips from same scene / other channels in arrangement, with ability to toggle on/off both view and editing of the other clips/channels
- sampler upgraded to match simpler, with hopefully some new fancy features and ideas going on, and PLEASE a bigger editing area for the keyzones
- maybe the bundled instrument content could actually contain more than 4 or 5 patches, and maybe they could actually be good / usable.

Re: What can we expect with X?
For me:
1.- hybrid tracks that allow bounce in place. Specially usefull for hardware wordkflow.
2.- layered editing: see other clips (in the background) of another clip when editing them.
3.- Custom GUI for third party stuff as Live devices, this would be for avoiding windows.
4.- Updated reverb by valhalla, maybe include ubermord for a cool delay
For push:
1.- Ability for plug in developers to design a Push "mapping" as those provided for live devices, with special icons and custom banks.
Personally I would love a keyboard version of Push (screen and the side buttons), no pads, maybe some for a 16 row sequencer.

Re: What can we expect with X?
2 things i think we will certainly see is
1. layered audio and midi editing.
2. Built in modulators like bitwig (ones that don't require max)
What I would like to see:
1. ARA Support!!
2. Alchemy Like Synth - foreal people have always been saying logic has so much bang for its buck but now it certainly does with the addition of alchemy. Having a synth with such a great effects along with endless modulation possibilities and seemingly unlimited filtering is the bees knees.
3. Adding more Audio Effects to Suite.
4. Complete keyboard shortcut customization.
5. Snap Automation.

Re: What can we expect with X?
God, I hope not. Seriously, the 3rd party market is overloaded with amazing instruments like Omnisphere, Kontakt, Zebra, Diva, Komplete.... the last thing Ableton's devs should be focusing on is some monster new synth that literally nobody needs. Alchemy was cool in its own right, Apple took it over, sure. Logic didn't even need it, really, but it's neat that it's there, and bad for everybody else. But who cares? Live is a DAW, it needs DAW features to be expanded and evolved, it does NOT need some silly bells & whistles native synth device.pinkpaint wrote: 2. Re: What can we expect with X?
I really really hope they add multi-touch support like Bitwig. Imagine how much faster the Surface Pro's will get as time goes on. Picture sitting in bed using a touchscreen to make a track, then you can dock it for use of a mouse and larger screen for precise editing and arrangement. No more fiddly Ipad controllers or apps, its right on the same device. One can dream...
