is a sound design site a good idea?

Post by Ambioun - Techno Man » Thu Jun 30, 2005 4:29 am

I'm seriously thinking about starting a sound design site for Softsynths, Samples, and other goodies. I love making new sounds and would like to see if other people can put to use what I make.

Is there a high demand for a sound design site or are there too many already?

Sounds cool. Go with it! Just let everybody know about it. I'm sure others would join you, including myself. - Orbit-50

I'd love this, again i'd be most intrested in tutorials, but if you included examples in your tutorials for a few popular softsynths that'd be even better!

Things i'd like to see are articles which start with a sound, maybe from a fairly well known record, and then show you how you can create that sound.

Good idea.

For hosting I definetly suggest Dreamhost.

I use it for my site and I love them as a host.

Too bad I can't throw money at it. I found a free host with 5GB and Unlimited Bandwidth.

Site will be up soon.

Sounds cool... Are you thinking that your site will deal with people doing sound design for film/video, or an all encompasing deal for stage, etc?

I got into doing DV projects last summer and I was disappointed with the lack of online community I was able to find in the DV realm. I tried to find the equivalent to tapeop.com for people into DV, but I didn't find much. There was one site called creativecow.com that was pretty okay, but it wasn't as helpful as the sites you find for audio, like good ole' abe.com!

I think if you really commited to this project you could carve a nice and useful niche. Gunna have forums?

Its some odd host that is giving me a private deal. I'm gonna use .tk redirection though to mask the ugly and long url. Its sweet.
