Greetings,
I hope you are well.
I'm probably in over my head on this one but hey gonna give it a bash.
I'm considering getting some old school Roland synths, mainly the Roland JX8P and U220. I found people selling them for really cheap secondhand. However, I know they both really come to life if you have the PG programmers. The units I plan on getting don't come with them and from what I can tell, they are tough to find.
So here's my question. How do you go about creating one via Ableton? I would assume I could create an instrument device and attempt to create macros routed to the specific device parameters? Sounds to easy and to good to be true. Has anyone attempted this and would they be willing to share their device or perhaps share a link that helped them with the same?
I would really appreciate any advice or assistance.

those oldschool synths require sysex - you need a workaround:

i used to have an alpha juno 2 and i could program it with the ctrtl.org panel via a novation nocturn.
