Re: The "Sample is Offline" DAW
I'm pilling on here to say I really really do not understand why a solid DAW like Live doesn't use Spotlight and the Windows equivalent to search for missing files? Kontakt is the only audio file based application I know of that has "search with Spotlight" as a choice, it also has multiple choices for how to do a search outside Spotlight, "search in folder" etc.
Any DAW or sampler can "lose" audio, change a drive out, get a new computer and so on. There are plenty of ways that Live and other DAWs can't find the audio for a project. Live has a dismal system for finding those missing files, it reports the name of the file, but you can't copy paste that name into a browser search. So if it's something like "Superstring_Am-fghx^_5", and Lives "here let me search for the files" doesn't pop up anything you have to type in each ungodly name.
Kontakt remains the only rational application for finding missing files I've used.
