Re saving instruments with missing files???

Is there an easier way to re save an instrument that you have had to relocate the missing files for? So far when I save I have to create a new folder and it re saves all the new missing samples again into the new folder. This seems like a waste of space and limits to where you can save these instruments! Is there a way to save the instrument so it just updates the sample paths into the new instrument that way the instrument can be saved anywhere and always find the samples? As of now if I relocate all samples then don't save the instrument it doesn't update the files so I'm stuck???
