Hybrid 3 VST Air Music Techn. causing problems in Live 9.7

My CPU load (in the Mac Activity monitor) went up quite high after the 9.7 update (over 100% for an empty template). It appears that this is related to the Air Hybrid 3 VST synth - even if I don't use this at all. I could resolve the problem by resetting Live but upon a rescan for VSTs when it hits upon Hybrid 3 it crashes Live. I then had to remove the VST and its components in the VST folders to solve the problem.

It's running fine on my iMac fwiw, so this may be a windows specific issue.

I am running Live 9.7 on a MacBook Pro (late 2013) with OS Sierra.

I could solve my problems with the removal of Hybrid 3. (It causes a fatal error and crash, but only once one knows that it could cause the problem). Since I never used the plugin, such problems are difficult to solve. I wrote this to help others. Maybe I should have named the topic different, referring to CPU performance only, because one does often initially not know what the cause could be.

Best, Olaf

I have Hybrid 3 in my VST directory, and Live 9.7 launches fine in Windows 10; I haven't actually used Hybrid since upgrading to Live 9.7, but definitely no crash on startup.

The assertion that a synth you aren't using in your sessions is somehow causing your CPU increase is.... highly suspect.

Good day,
I have a big problem in Ableton Live and Hybrid 3.

When I open a project in which I had the Hybrid3 plugin, I can't see it and I only see a white screen. The plugin plays, but no UI is visible. Just a white window.

When I add a new Hybrid3 to a track it works. However, if I save the project and reopen it, Hybrid3 again has only a white window.

Thanks for support.

Plugin purchased at pluginbutique.

I Have Ableton 10 latest release

This is a known thing for Air plugins, it is NOT specific to Ableton either, it happens in a few DAWs and also NI Komplete Kontrol & Maschine. Air are aware of this since 2017, and have done nothing to fix it. I will not buy or use any Air plugins - problem solved :)

The problem solved.

The problem lies in HDPI settings. Just turn it off and on in the plugin's properties so that it doesn't use or uses the size scale.

There is also a known issue with Air instruments that may affect them even with hdpi switched off. If you open the GUI first time it is fine, but close it and open it again and it displays white as you have noted. Been an issue for years and will probably never be fixed due to the way they draw the interface.
