Keep getting: 'missing files'

Post by turbomartin » Sun Oct 30, 2016 4:56 pm

I got setup as follows:

1. Laptop (256gig SSD drive): live + most live packs

2. SSD: Most VST + Samples + Projects

I keep stuff on the SSD as much as possible, to keep the computer clean and fast. However, I keep getting missing files. They are easy to find, however I am afraid that one day that wont be the case.

I always 'collect all and save' at the end of a session.

Am I doing it wrong?

Kinda regret for choosing the 'cheap' 256 gig system SSD. Wish I could just put all my stuff on the system SSD.

Is the second SSD drive an external drive? If so, sometimes the problem might be that the OS changes the drive letter each time you plug in the SSD drive and so Live looses the path. In that case, you just simply need to assign a permanent drive letter in the OS for your SSD drive. So each time you plug it in, it will have the same path.

I don't think a mac gives names to the drives. It's using a fixed name as far as i can tell.
