sample based synths

Hey guys, i recently have gotten interested in sample based synths where u can manipulate own samples into coolass sounds.. Ive found out about Native Instruments Form and Izotope Iris 2.. both seem to be 99dollar atm. Anyone have experience with either or both of these? which one would u recommend.. Or is there any other cool vsts with same kind of idea?

Have you also thought about granular synthesis? Bit different the Omnisphere/Alchemy approach but equally rewarding!

Avenger looks good. If I understand its specs it can also play samples.
Not released yet, but there are several videos in Youtube showing what it sounds like.

Thanks for the replies. As far as i know u cant put own samples to omnisphere tho. Otherwise it looks awesome but pretty expensive. The avenger synth looks sick too. However I decided to learn ableton sampler and whatnot properly before i buy new stuff since i just switched to live a while ago and never rly edited samples alot:D

You can put your own samples into Omnisphere 2 actually, it was one of the major features in that update.

Why not first get your feet wet with Sampler?!
Sampler has an additional Oscillator page which lets you manipulate the loaded sample with many different waveforms via either FM or AM synthesis. The Sampler envelopes are pretty nice too. Modulation options are not too shabby either.

If you just buy Omnisphere to try out sample manipulation with oscillators you might throw away a lot of money.
Even if Sampler is not enough for your needs/wishes the two other 99USD options you mentioned seem like much more sensible ways to experiment with this new technique.
I think it's also very worthwhile to check out Sony's Spectral Layers, as that has quite a unique and nicely hands on approach to messing with sampled audio.

Buy Omnisphere when you know exactly that you want exactly Omnisphere and nothing else. It's not an impulse buy (for most people)
