Map All Enclosed Macros

Post by xyz023 » Thu Dec 22, 2016 2:37 pm

This feature is available for instruments in a rack, any insight about why this is not available for effects in a rack? Is there a workaround?

No it is available for effects too, you just need to those effects inside rack chain.

Placed a public suggestion for this in Ableton's Centercode tracker. SUG-2693

If anybody on that forum would upvote that it would be appreciated.

AAdel: The feature is a little deceptive; if you place and instrument rack inside another, and then place an audio rack, the option is still listed when right/secondary clicking on an outer macro, but when selecting the feature it will ignore the audio rack, or any other rack aside from an instrument rack.

Yeah I'm not following. You have the same macro abilities for instrument and effects chain.

Right... this isn't a totally obvious feature. It's not even mentioned in Live's manual, but it exists and is super helpful.

To demonstrate, place a blank instrument rack inside of a blank instrument rack. Right click/secondary click on any macro in the outer most rack, and you will see a few new options listed. Two in particular - Map all enclosed macros, and map all macros here. This will only have an effect on instrument racks, and ignores the marcos on all other rack types, MIDI, Effect, and Drum.

Let me know if this needs further explaining.
