Using a PC, according to the manual supposed to use alt and then can curve envelope, but its not working Any ideas?

The feature works regularly on my PC with Ableton Live 9.7.1 Suite using this sequence:
1) Create two points defining a segment to automate the needed parameter (I tried with Track Volume and Reverb Send).
2) Move a point to obtain an oblique segment. You cannot bend a horizontal or vertical segment.
3) Hover the mouse with the Alt key pressed on the segment. You should see a symbol representing a curve just under the tail of the mouse pointer. The Alt Gr key has a different function.
4) Bend the curve pressing and keeping pressed, along with the Alt key, the left mouse button.
Other than an a Live glitch, it could be an issue with the keyboard. In case, Paasmark produces a keyboard tester which can be downloaded as a 30 day trial from the site.
