TB-3 tempo is off with MIDI sync through Scarlett 2i4

Post by OptioBE » Mon Jan 23, 2017 12:53 pm

Hello,

I recently got myself a Roland TB-3.
First I used it through the USB cable with Ableton but soon noticed that the device doesn't sync bpm's that way.

It is now connected with my 2i4 soundcard with a MIDI cable and run the sound through it with ASIO and it all works.
However if I check the BPM on my TB-3 it is never correct when it syncs with ableton.
My current project runs at 135 BPM, if I check the BPM on the TB-3 it says 134 most of the time but sometimes it even says 132 and I'm not entirely sure but I get the impression it's not completely on-sync with the rest.

Anyone know if this is an Ableton problem or hardware problem?

I had a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 myself and had a lot of Midi sync issues and hangs on Windows 10. Their drivers are horribly outdated with terrible support!

I tried everything ( even gotten a replacement to rule out hardware issue ) and got so fed up with it, so I returned it back to the store and got myself the Steinberg UR44 instead.
Best thing I ever did! All problems instantly gone. This thing just works! Much better and updated driver support.
