How to record Other Audio SW channels into DAW?

Post by MIAR » Fri Feb 03, 2017 12:57 am

Hi Guys,

I want to record other Software program's Output channels into Ableton but in real-time.

Example: Flicking through samples and auditioning them in a separate browser program by using Input monitoring + FX within DAW.

RME ASIO / Win8.1 / Audio Browser uses WDM driver but can use another with ASIO

Any way to do this?

The RME toltalmix software has a routing system to send a copy of one set of outputs to some inputs.
Its a kind of magic loopback function. Different versions implement it differently. firefaces use the older software and its a control click in the totalmix mixer. Newer products have a dedicated button, I think.

Thanks Angstrom,

So you mean I have to use a a physical output (i.e. ADAT out) and loop it back (ADAT in) with cable or theres actually a "Button" or software switch within Total Mix to do just that?
