Cannot See Link Toggle

Post by B4F3xE48 » Thu Feb 09, 2017 4:51 am

Its probably something stupid but I am unable to see the LINK toggle button after I hit "show" in Midid and Link settings. What am I missing? Oh I'm running 9.7.1

What is your display zoom set at? Set it to 100% or so and see if it appears.

Do you use any Sync midi devices? In the bottom half of the midi Preferences, are all 'sync' buttons off?

got some Apps like Kaossilator, Figure and DM1 (cant find LINK switch or settings in Figure and DM1). Koas working and LINK on (iphone) but not showing LINK toggle next to where the Tap Tab in ABleton is. I am pretty confused as I thought Link was included in all new updates after 9.6. I have 9.7.1

Scratches head.

Maybe I need to reinstall Ableton 9.7.1 but was trying to avoid that as its a royal pain.....

Do you have an audio device selected in Live's Audio Preferences?

In figure go to the 'Song' tab on the bottom right.

Then on top right tap Sync.

In DM1 go to the Tools page. Link will be a bottom button.

A warning. DM1 from my experience has drifting issues when trying to use Link. I'd test it out for a few tries. If you don't have issues then use it. If any issues come up, it is probably DM1 (I think DM2 works fine but it is not the same kind of instrument since DM2 is more synth drums and DM1 is fun sample rule drums).

For Ableton Live's audio settings they may have set it so you can only use it with Asio drivers when using Windows. I'm not positive on this, but I know Traktor has this limitation. It is because it is very difficult to synchronize any audio drivers which might have high or unpredictable latency.

Indeed, switching from directX to Asio fixed this for me. This option is situated in the audio tab in the Ableton preferences panel (Ctrl+,).
I am using VirtualDJ, so Traktor is not the only app with this limitation.

If it makes you feel any better, I made the same mistake! Had my Drivers switched and didn't even realize it.

I just hit this last night. I had swapped the driver setting to MME so I could record some audio from my USB webcam. Strange that the available docs for "Debugging issues with Link" don't mention this at all. I was an hour deep into anti-virus firewall settings before I just flipped it back to ASIO and it came back on.
