clip name save weirdness

I have some old .alc audio clips in separate folders to group clips with the same tempo which I probaly prepared with live 8.

I start editing them to make loops and then I save them back into the same directory with a new name and although the new name gets saved in the directory on disk (in Live and in windows explorer) when I open the clip with the new name in live it shows the old name.

Always.

Any ideas?

So where this new name done and where do you read the name of the clip in these cases? Is it in the clip name itself or do you change it on disk? They're two different things, you know. Typically changing the name of the clip and saving it by dragging to the Live browser should save it as a new clip with the same name as you just gave it.

If you rename the file on disk however the old name will stick and show after you imported it to a new place.

I rename it using live browser drag drop rename.

Even tried renaming after the fact ones that had not been drag Dropped back into live browser - same result.

When I drag the renamed clip into session or arrange view it keeps the original name.

When you change a name in the Browser, that's the name of the .alc file, not the clip itself. See? I think what you want is to rename the clip in the track. Then save it as a clip in the browser.

Worked perfectly - bit of a pain but it certainly works
