Using Roland PK5

Post by Al the Greek » Thu Apr 13, 2017 9:53 pm

I've just acquired a Roland PK5 to replace a Keith Mcmillen 12 Step. The 12 Step was good and very simple to set up to trigger sequences I have written in Ableton, but to use live it wasn't particularly user friendly, with no physical feedback with the pedals. Hence I went for the PK5. Proper pedals you know you've hit. However, I'm having trouble mapping out triggers using the midi map function. With the 12 Step I simply switched on the midi map function in Ableton and assigned the desired keys by pressing them on the 12 Step. I'm trying to do the same with the Roland, but keep receiving messages telling me I've already assigned something to that key, when I haven't! And then when I finally think I'm done, I press the key on the Roland and end up triggering two separate sequences in my song when they were theoretically assigned to different keys. I also have sequences triggerble on keys they were never assigned to. What's going on and where am I going wrong?

The Roland is connected to my Mac with a Roland UM-ONE midi to USB cable.

Any assistance would be much appreciated- ahthangow!
