External arpegiators

Post by aklisiewicz » Mon Apr 24, 2017 6:04 am

I have never mastered Live arpegiator as it seems to somewhat counterintuitive.
I would like to hear an opinion on external arpegiators (i.e Arpology from Sample Logic or Cathulhu). Are those any better than the one in Live ?

Cthulhu is kind of more complicated then lives arp and offers much more options.
Alternatives offered by M4l. I use the VST-Internal Arp from Omnisphere, J74 and whats
interesting are things like Riff-Generators, Melodic Flow ect..

Better melodic building is also possible by Push Noterepeat used with scales.
Sounds often better and is more easy to get desired results.
So - whos is using Arps these days ?

I still use Atmosphere (which is predecessor or Omin-). Great plugin. I'm not usre if I should upgrade to new one, these days you can spent thousends on software...
I did not know that Omnisphere (I'm assuming you have ver2 right) has an arpegiator. Sounds interesting.

cthuluh i do not use anymore, had it on 2 tracks - i dont like the workflow, even when it
can sound very different to omnispheres arp.

Cthulu is a lot more than an arpeggiator...it's designed to generate chords and chord progressions, the arpeggiator is just a small part of it. If the OP thinks the native arpeggiator is "unintuitive" I can't imagine him dealing with Cthulu.

It might help if the OP could explain what he wants in an arpeggiator...does he need one that acts more like a step sequencer, allowing you to create your own patterns?

can you shed some light on what OP means ?

I wonder if any CATHULHU users can say they really benefit more from it than from other ARPs ?
I installed DEMO version but it has no guts. All presets are cut off so it is useless unless somebody already know how to use it. They should include at least 1-2 presets.
