Acceptable Video File Formats?
Acceptable Video File Formats?
The User Manual says Ableton accepts .mov file formats (to be aligned with the music in Arrangement View). See p. 303.
Anyone had experience getting Ableton to accept other video file formats?
I'm looking to learn a video editing program, but I don't want to take the time to learn one, only to find out that Ableton won't accept its file format.

Re: Acceptable Video File Formats?
MOV is the only format
Even then it depends on what codec is in use and what day of the week it happens to be.
It's painful with video and my suggestion would be to get yourself a video format converter that can create MOV formats and convert a file to MOV and test. I have worked doing foley/sound design for some short films where I was sent an MOV file that I had to re-encode to MOV again for it to work.

Thanks for the help, jester. I converted to .mov format, and that fixed the problem. Of course, I also had to download the CCCP decoder from here: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... -Live-Win- .

Let’s hope he didn’t install it in the last 3 years

Mmhm, it's probably a false alarm but thanks for telling it, I'll ask around.argogigante wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 6:49 amstruknes wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2017 12:28 pmThanks for the help, jester. Re: Acceptable Video File Formats?
Not sure exactly tbh.
Don't Haali Media Splitter and K-Lite do the trick? Or are they not replacement for CCCP? Sorry, I'm not a Win user and know nothing about video codecs on this OS.
And my previous post wasn't clear, I reckon.
