Max 4 Live and Java

Post by Pasha » Sun May 21, 2017 10:48 am

That's an old one I know.. sorry for duplicates..
I need to install Java 8 SDK on my old Macbook for a parallel project.
So far I have used Virtual Machines to avoid installing Java 8 and avoid damaging my working Ableton Live installation with Java 1.6 JRE (security risk here) and M4L.

Any chance to upgrade to Java 8 and avoid disruption?

Best

Do you use devices with Java objects? If not, MFL doesn't require Java anymore.

I'm running the Java6 environment for other older java mac applications and have Java8 installed as well in OS X 10.11. I might have set it up well some years ago, but it's possible.
Make some music!

Thanks!
I was stuck with M4L years ago when first Live 9 came. Without Java I could not launch M4L.
My need of Java it's not for Music but it looked like I could not share my backup Music computer with java other than 1.6... so that's why I asked.
I will try removing java and see what happens. I do not use any java objects but some M4L devices could, hence the need of java.. makes sense?
