Triggering video clips with MIDI w/o changing backgr music

Post by zinnn » Wed Jun 07, 2017 1:08 pm

Hey everyone
I'm an artist working on an installation at the moment, and need some help.

I managed to set up 6 audio paths that play looped together, and connect them through MIDI to light sensors - so when someone touches the light on my device, the audio linked to one of those sensors will mute itself. That works.

Now, I also want to connect those sensors (through MIDI) to videos being displayed. Basically I want the user to enter a room and see a screen showing an image (image/video can be jpg or just a mov). The music plays in the background, and the viewer can see those 6 lights. When he touches one light, the music will mute, but I also want the image on the screen to change to something else. Once he stops touching the light source, the image should go back to the original image.

How can I do it? I did some tests, with linking MIDI to videos, but once the sensor is triggered it also affects the audio (it skips to the point where the audio is, and then goes back)

Hope this is clear enough, would really appreciate your help.
