ABLETON LIVE 9 recognizing Korg Kronos

so this is something that has been driving me nuts for the last year or so.
i use a korg kronos with ableton live 9 through a focusrite interface. i have the midi going into my pc via usb from korg with windows 10 and then the audio outs of the korg through my interface and monitored through cans.
when i turn on interface and then ableton everythings fine. then i turn on the kronos and wait for it to boot up and then it doesn't show on my in's for midi track. it shows on my intputs under midi ports in my preferences.
if i turn off the korg and reboot it sometimes it works sometimes not. there is a conflict somewhere but for the life of me i can't find where or if i am missing something.
sometimes i have to reboot the computer and close and open ableton. used to be i just had to shut down the korg kronos and reboot but now sometimes that doesn't work.
just now i literally had to reboot computer close and open ableton twice and the korg three times and finally good to go with no indication of what order or what kicked it in.
any thoughts, idea's suggestions would be beyond helpful. thanks.
