Control one instrument from 2 midi devices - just 2

Post by mcmaklin1 » Sun Jul 30, 2017 9:50 am

This can be easy but I google internet and have no answer.
I use abletone and have just 3 instruments midi tracks and 3 keyboards. Each keyboard controls one instrument (in the midi channel in)

Now I bought TeControl breath controller - I want to use it to control only the midiInstrument 3 (which is flute)

Is there a way to select just 2 Midi inputs at the same time? You are allowed to select all at the same time or just one. I want to control flute with both keyboard 3 and breath controller.

Selecting All does not solve my problem because I do not want my controller to control all instruments but just the third one.
Urgent please thank you .

Can you not have two midi tracks that accept the inputs from each controller and have them send the MIDI to the singular track with the instrument in?

I indeed need help. I have attached a screen. I did not understand your post, maybe a language problem because my native language is not English.
Please look at the picture, How can I choose more than it is there. It is not possible to choose to instruments at the same time. Flute must be control by just one keyboard and one breath controller. Breath controller cannot deal with any other track.
I do not know how to do it, picture is here. 3Midi has to be controlled by not only breath controller (that only controls parameters) but additionally by a keyboard!

Oh I did not know I can send midi output to just another track and both outputs to the same. It is possible to send everything from everywhere in Ableton. Incredible!

I think you want to do it like this. The first two tracks are just set to receive midi data and send it to the third. The third will contain the actual midi instrument.

Auto = Automatically accept MIDI from input when track is armed, otherwise plays MIDI from the recorded data
ON = Always accepts MIDI from input regardless of track arm or playing MIDI

Don't be afraid to check the manual as it's all explained in detail. Specifically this info:
