Are you sure that Live Lite doesn't give you any discount for upgrading ?
In my opinion, Live Lite does permit you to upgrade to Live standard or suite, which means for now to upgrade to Live 10 !
You are absolutely right. You can upgrade Lite 9 to Standard 9 or Suite 9 and at the 20% discount and including a free upgrade to 10.
That's exactly what is shown when I login to my account and select my Lite license that I still have.

Coool. And how much is it to upgrade from Live 9 lite to Live 9 suite (i.e. to Live 10) ?
I'm quite curious about that because I'm selling a Live 9 Lite license I still didn't associate to my account, and it could be a selling point...

Great! But at what specific upgrade prices? For my Live 9 Suite license to Live 10 Suite Ableton asks 199€ discounted (179€ to Standard) and for my Live 9 Intro license to Live 10 Suite Ableton wants 399€ and 223€ to Standard. Is Lite on par with Intro?

It would seem I can't change currency in Ableton store, so don't know about prices in dollars and those prices above do include 25% VAT which may not apply to the US. If so that's another 20% off, so 159€ Suite to Suite.

It's possible the upgrade prices including VAT are fixed, and if so what VAT percentage is connected to your account will differ. Whichever VAT go only to whatever tax authorities and is no income to Ableton.
Make some music!

I can't say for € prices. It looks like my Lite is worth $100 off Suite and $70 off Standard.

That is:
  • Intro: purchase normally $99; upgrade from Lite: not available
  • Standard: purchase normally $449; upgrade from Lite: normally $379, upgrade during sale $303
  • Suite: purchase normally $749; upgrade from Lite: normally $649, upgrade during sale $519
