See ableton's website.

Hope they finally fixed copy and paste from push when you try to copy a sequencer note together with all of it's automation data.

Some good stuff. I've seen no mention of typing exact values in automation ?

Wow, Max for Live integrated to Live ! With access to audio outputs ! That's really a game changer. Does anybody know if the API calls timing has been improved ?

I can sympathize. I won't be upgrading to 64-bit until I can also upgrade to Win10, which means dumping the Mackie. But hope is on the horizon. I will have finished refurbishing the vintage Tascam mixer I bought by the end of the year and I'll be connecting it to a MOTU 8A. That will finally open up the upgrade path for me.

I didn't see any mention of which version of Live contains the new instruments.... will it be exclusive to Suite again? They specifically mention the Suite requirement for the new instrument packs and M4L integration, but nothing about Wavetable, Echo, Drum Buss, and Pedal.

A lot of those workflow improvements will be really useful for me and the way I work. Slip editing in particular, and also that automation view might stop me fucking up my automation every 10 minutes! Those will fix lots of little issues for me.

But I'm surprised they didnt do the big thing in arranging which other DAW makers have added -arrangement segments which can be moved around, thats my big arranging problem. I want to try an a/b comparison on a "verse" or a mix chunk. All the other manufacturers have jumped on this, and its right up Abletons non-linear street but they skipped over it. Very weird.

The other disapointment is the browser. I see no point in "favourites" because groupings are contextual, whats my "best bass" for one track is the worst for another. What instruments go together on Friday night do not go together on Wednesday morning. That's why taxonomic filtering is important. But this MAJOR feature has been skipped over. That's just baffling to me.

All in all a good update, but my two big wishes being missed I'm not going to update on day one, because I will still struggle in the same two big ways. Finding my content and arranging it.

Happy to see 10 arriving soon but..

Sad not to see:
A better Browser. Live 8 was better and faster without the need for indexing. A simple Explorer based browser that allows everything Explorer does. Instead we are still restricted because of Push users.

A DJ/Performing mode that allows easy access to the browser and files like Traktor.

Dynamic EQ.

EQ with overlays from other instances to check clashing frequencies.

Advanced Spectrum with overlays for ideal frequency balance.

I absolutely and wholeheartedly agree! A possibility to move envelope point horizontally or vertically and snap it to grid is a blessing! Also fade in/out improvements, multiple MIDI clip editing, all these things making it sure I'll upgrade.

Anyone know how much the upgrade from 9 will be?

2 things I was expecting as they are so missed in a Modern DAW:

Vocal Comping, Storing takes in new tracks if recording is looped.

Bouncing audio to new track (rather then having to realtime re sample it or export to re import.

Nothing on such features again?....

Digging the midi capture! I just hope it works in arrangement view!
ctrl + left/right = select transient

ctrl + shift + left/right = select between transients

ctrl + space = play selection
