One click Zoom in & out
One click Zoom in & out
Is there a way to assign single keys for zoom in and out?
I can do that with Keyboard maestro, but it is system wide. Anyone knows a way to do it inside Ableton?
(OS: El capitan, for 3rd party solutions..)

In Live 10 you don’t need to hold shift anymore to zoom, you can just press + or -.

Re: One click Zoom in & out
I'm only using the keys "+" and "-" to zoom audio OR MIDI in a clip, or horizontally on the timeline in Arrangement, already in Live 9. What is "shift" supposed to do here?Tarekith wrote:In Live 10 you don’t need to hold shift anymore to zoom, you can just press + or -.

There is no one click "+" in MBP. At least in my language.
+ is "shift+4".
Left to "-", there is "*"

That's true, but that's a physical limitation with your keyboard, not with Live. As this command is available in a menu and you're on the Mac you can change the shortcut in System Preferences.alpertt wrote:There is no one click "+" in MBP. At least in my language.

You cant assign single key for a keyboard shortcut. It has to be "ctrl+..." or "cmd+..." etcStromkraft wrote:that's a physical limitation with your keyboard, not with Live. As this command is available in a menu and you're on the Mac you can change the shortcut in System Preferences.
What i need is a single key for zoom actions.

That's right, I forgot this detail.alpertt wrote:You cant assign single key for a keyboard shortcut. Well, then you need to edit your keyboard file in macOS. There are tools for this. Specifically Ukelele Mac OS X Keyboard Layout Editor.
Or use something like keyboard maestro that can generate a longer command from a single key in one app only.
Or get an external keyboard like that I use.
Personally I zoom with PXT Live from my Push. If you got MFL Push-Arrangement also zooms I think.

Well, Keyboard Maestro (a very good app) lets you use single key but you cannot use that key to write then!Stromkraft wrote:then you need to edit your keyboard file in macOS. There are tools for this. Specifically Ukelele Mac OS X Keyboard Layout Editor.

It makes system wide, not program spesific.
I think that ukulelele thing will result the same
Push doesnt have default zoom knob and need 3rd parties?!!Stromkraft wrote:Personally I zoom with PXT Live from my Push. If you got MFL Push-Arrangement also zooms I think.
Ableton team underrate zoom function a lot!!
I dont have Push, i use APC40 mk1 as controller.
The goal was to use laptops keyboard without needing extra keyboard or controller. I'll continue using trackpad then.
I wish zoom was midi/key mappable..
Anyways thanks for responses.

I'd think there an app for that: Keyboard Pilot ($2.99). Also you can switch keyboards with a shortcut in macOS.alpertt wrote: It makes system wide, not program spesific.

But then i noticed, in all different languages (US, english, avusturalian..) + is not a single key!?
It is always a key combo
