I have to give a shout-out to the Overdrive and Pedal effects Live 9 and 10.
I had previously tried the Amp effect and was underwhelmed, but recently have been auditioning Overdrive and Distortion effect VST's in Live, and am finding that with tweaking, the Overdrive and Pedal effects are surprisingly good - the filter graph in Overdrive is particularly effective in tweaking for the effect you want.
Good Work, Ableton. I'm upgrading just for the Distortion effect....

Re: Overdrive and Pedal (Live 10) Audio Effects
that's good to know.
I can't wait til they open more slots to beta testers.
And I'm trying to pin down the final devices that I'll commit to stay's DDC on nativekontrol.com
I already upgrade a few 3rd party plug-ins that are around the same price as the early bird special on ableton. And surreal machines, for example, has a vst bundle release of their dub effects that I've already purchased in m4l, which is still nonetheless tempting. So I think the Live upgrade price is very realistic.
