If you record something that is out of time from the metronome it can be much more difficult to use.

It helps people know what tempo the software is at so when they record parts they can know what speed they'll be going at.

The metronome/click as is it not of much use. You can change the sounds to something a bit more organic for timekeeping...just google it but I would forget using it. Its much better to make a small library of hihat/shaker, with feel and just keep a track dedicated for click track. The built in one comes back through the recordings when using it live...just my 2c but specialise the click...the feels that you add as a click really help to get away from that sterile unswung feel of midi. Cubase spent a whole season on groove way back in the 90s...and it really is a great basis for music with feel.

Click also needs adjusting during the song when building live so the track makes it easier to manage
