That will not be a common experience to all users, I equally can't derive an absolute from that, my experience is just one data point. But I can say it's obviously not 100% flawless and does still crash for some users. It probably is more stable, but I the crashing skews my personal perspective.

Each user should see how it performs for them.
Sorry to hear that.
I also use Conv.Reverb in my default set, loads of M4L, and for my personal taste still terrible amounts of nestings.
No issues for long time here, exept the Win HDPI suffer.
Thankfully solved now.
But, as you said, each user makes different experiences, and that is where the hard work starts.

It´s the ignorance i am taking about.
This specific user wants a load of new features, rock solid performance and a minimal (update) price.
If we are lucky, we can choose two of them, but never three.
With one of the mentioned we all have to pay.
Don´t wanna pay for stability?
And how do we get there when nobody wants to pay?

people don't mind paying. I will gladly pay

But, my upgrade from 8 to 9, which was a seriously major upgrade, was $112 USD

This "minor" upgrade from 9 to 10 is $229. I guess something has gone awry at Ableton and they need the $$$

if I was wealthy I probably wouldn't give a shit, but...

"minor" upgrade. You can pay more for 1 plugin sometimes, let alone get Wavetable, pedal, echo, Drum Bus, group within group, multi midi editing without mentioning the great new packs or the additional Push functionality.

I had not a single crash during the whole beta phase.
Today, the risk of a broken string onstage is higher than a crash with Ableton.
Think about it for a while...
As a coder I appreciate the hard work that goes into this, but stability should not be a bullet point for any tool you have to pay for.

Or am I missing your point?

I had 2 crashes today in 10 Beta on a not so much Cpu heavy project ......

I will take the broken string instrument now please... :-)

Yepp.
We have the choice.
Pick two out of three:
- fix the string
- rethink your style
- see how far you get with only one string left

I don't need the stuff that falls into the "worth paying for" category, such as the synth and fx.

I do need all the stuff that's already available in other daws that leaves me wondering why i'm going pay up, such as midi capture, the midi note pickup thing, and autonaming.

Capture. Hands down.

Sure there's more music to be made with the other features. But this really takes a load off for what is a very real phenomenon, where rehearsing something has all the intended feel. And then when you go to record you realize something about the performance has changed. Or perhaps one practice pass will have the most feel and spontaneity that you could ever hope to achieve. Now guess what? it's already there waiting to be utilized.

I'll probably have to prioritize some clip scrub and start end marker controls, as Capture still takes liberties as to how far back it thinks this latest idea should go in the clip.

I won't upgrade.

The simpler improvements in 9.5 are good.

The rest (wavetable synth (sounds rubbish compared to massive and razor)), a few colours in the browser and the ability to copy project files with versions (yawn) and a drum equaliser are weak.

I would probably have bought it if they listened to us and made all instruments vertically expandable (drum rack editing is a chore) and automation editable by typing in a number into a pop-up instead of fucking around with the mouse trying to get 65 when it only wants to do 67 or 64.

There are like 100 more improvements than what you have noted.

IIRC, modifier keys (shift, alt, or ctrl) might make it easy to move in smaller increments to 65 or whatever.

Drum buss= you get three different overdrive circuits, transient boosts, it’s a Swiss Army knife for your drums .

Wavetable is cool especially the look in Push 2. It makes me want to tweak away with all the visual feedback.
