Using a pen, how do you right click?
Using a pen, how do you right click?
I am beginning to use a pen with Ableton Live 10. I have a Surface Pro 20017 and the new pen from Microsoft.
How do you right click with the pen? In the Windows File Explorer I simply click for 1 second and a contextual menu appears. But in Live nothing happens, so there are a lot of things I cannot do without the use of a keyboard.

How do you right click with a pen?

Switch hands?
Sorry, I have no idea but I’m curious too.

I use the pen's switch or tap two fingers on on my Wacom Intuos Pro, or I could set up an ExpressKey on the device...mcpepe wrote:How do you right click with a pen?
But you're right, click-hold doesn't seem to work here either like in other applications.

The Microsoft pen does have 2 buttons, but they doesn't act as right click.

Is there a configuration tool that may let it?mcpepe wrote:The Microsoft pen does have 2 buttons, but they doesn't act as right click.
When I open Windows 7's generic Pen and Finger Input dialogue there's an option on the pen options tab, but the pen driver may have its own setup and configuration.
Re: Using a pen, how do you right click?
I know about this, but it doesn`t work, at least with my pen.
It's button number 3. But, as I said before, it doesnt work as a right-click in Live. (Though it works in the Windows File Explorer)
Do you have one pen and tried? It maybe that mine is broken...?
Re: Using a pen, how do you right click?
If it works like anywhere else in Windows, it's probably not broken.
Like I said, my Wacom pen's button works in Live, while click-hold doesn't. So my wild guess is that Wacom and Microsoft use different methods for the button.
Wacom seems to send the mouse button signal directly, while Microsoft may send click-hold, which is obviously ignored by Live.
File a bug report.
Side note, activating or deactivating Pen-Tablet-Mode in Live's Look and Feel preferences makes no difference to the click-hold behaviour.
