Buffersize settings!

Post by jpga » Sun Feb 25, 2018 3:41 pm

Hi friends,,
Why does ableton live show that I can choose 2048 and sometimes 1024 as max buffersize?

All the best,,

Because of reasons?

Dunno, could be that sometimes you are using 44Khz, sometimes 48 or 96? Live is simply showing what the OS reports as available. It doesn't do any calculations of its own, just gets the info from the system.

What Audio, OS, Specs do you have?

Not sure you should be too concerned with that end of the scale anyway, not a buffer size you really want to be aiming for.

I would just remember when you are recording, either live like vocals or midi like jamming on the keyboard you want a lower buffer size to minimize delays. These delays are from when you play or sing a note to it actually being heard and recorded. A good rule is 128 or bellow.

And when you are mixing, adding lots of effects processing its best to use higher buffer sizes. A good rule is 512 or above
