How can I get a midi clip playing on track 2 to send a message to turn off track 1 , only while 2 is playing.
The idea is to have the drums on track 1 "duck" , or cut out while a fill on track 2 is playing.
Ive tried using gates, but I just cant get it to respond quick and clean.
I also tried using the cross fader, which im pretty good at, but again its just not as quick and clean as im trying for.
I thought cutting the track off , on beat , could accomplish what I want.
midi cc routing ?? Drums ducking for a fill ?

Which gates and how did you sidechain it? Typically this is done by audio. I have a great gate from Unfiltered Audio called "G8 Dynamic Gate" that reacts to MIDI as well(if I remember correctly). I'm not using this much but it's a godsend sometimes.brian sansone wrote: Ive tried using gates, but I just cant get it to respond quick and clean.
Automation will of course work. In the mixer level or on the gain of Utility, if Live 10, or on something like FreeG, if Live 9.
