DAC for Macbook Pro 2017

Hello everyone! I'm just getting into music production. I'm ready to purchase a DAC but I looking for advice. I have the Macbook Pro 2017 so I only have a headphone jack and Thunderbolt Ports (ie, no usb or anything else) I have a secondary "converter" piece to connect to my MIDI via USB - Thunderbolt Port. Anyone have any suggestions on which DAC to get with this set

Buy cheap, buy twice. You need this if you want to be pro.

Or, pick from this list if you want to be a scrub... like me.

As my first DAC and still learning how to use the program, I'm going for cheap but good quality...if that makes any sense. I don't mind spending a little more than I want if its worth it. I have AKG K240 Studio Headphones if that makes a difference as well. :)
