Best small midi keyboard for Live?
Best small midi keyboard for Live?
I want a velocity sensitive MIDI keyboard to fit on my desktop next to my computer keyboard.
It should be reasonably small but I prefer full size keys (I might reconsider this depending on what you recommend).
It would be nice with a dedicated play and record button that works with Live too.
Wireless would be ideal, but I am on Windows so I guess that is not an option.
It should be supported by Live, i.e. work well with Live more or less out of the box.

I wouldn't recommend the Keystation series. It does have buttons for playing and arrows that would be great for scrolling or switching between session clips but no matter how hard I tried, I could not get them to work as needed.SvenH wrote:It would be nice with a dedicated play and record button that works with Live too.
One of my friends has a Novation Launchkey25, it seems to work perfectly out-of-the-box.

Thanks, I will look into Launchkey25BURN-ADDiCT wrote:I brought M-audio's Keystation49. it works great for actually midi keys and the pitch bend and modwheel have been great too. Since you're looking for a keyboard with buttons for transport control, I wouldn't recommend the Keystation series.SvenH wrote:It would be nice with a dedicated play and record button that works with Live too.

They're assignable, so you can keep re-assigning them everytime you open Live up, but that's a pain in the neck. Mackie control is harder to set up than they say on youtube.
