Using 2 Audio Interfaces as one

Any ideas here? Can it be done? Been doing some research, mostly you tube, but nothing practical yet.
My problem is that I have an old reliable Tascam 144 and want to add more output ports to my setup. Probably there is another way to get this done.

Of course it may time to upgrade anyhow. Looking at the budget Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 (2nd Gen).

I only know of these, but I am not sure if they give you the ability to use multiple devices in one app (i.e two cards via Live). So far I have seen info that they will let you route apps, each to a different audio device, and mix/play all those apps through all the audio devices at the same time. Could be interesting to read further in to them or test out

As for your Tascam, depending on the Tascam (is it ADAT / SPDIF? ) and your sound card hardware (optical/spdif connections?), you could connect it to your sound card and expand it by 2-8 audio in/outs.

I think it is SPDIF. There is one set of i/o ports (which I have never been able to use) marked "digital".
Started to research them, and began to suspect that they are SPDIF.

Will take a look at the links.

The Tascam is my sound card and yes it has a pair of coaxial SPDIF ports, 1 in and 1 out. However I will have to find a program for PC/Win10 to integrate the two devices.

Also, still cannot find any hardware that I am certain will give me the extra output I need and which has SPDIF Coaxial i/o's connectivity.
