Behringer BCR2000 and Windows 10 - no dice?
Behringer BCR2000 and Windows 10 - no dice?
I wanted to dust off my old BCR again, but Windows only sees it as an "unknown USB device", and Behringer's driver installation app times out, because it doesn't detect the unit. Any ideas? The BCR has the latest firmware installed, and I've tried running the setup file in various compatibility modes with no luck.

Both BCR and BCF are working fine here. Didn't do anything, they got installed as "B-CONTROL"
After a bit of help from S4Racen and Sigabort they're working with their control surface scripts as well.

Did you install them simply by plugging them in, or were they already installed when you upgraded your computer to Windows 10?

I can't remember. But I just plugged them into my laptop and they got recognized and installed as BCF2000 and BCR2000.
Maybe check your USB cables/Hub.

I uninstalled them on my desktop too. They got reinstalled as BCF/BCR and are working.

Ok; thanks for getting back to me. Did you use the installer from Behringer's site, or did you just plug them in?
I've already tried a couple of ports and cables, so I don't really know what else to do.

I decided to try my BCF too, and I was quite surprised when it installed just fine (using the Behringer driver app). I don't understand why the BCR is not working, though; it lights up just fine, but even after installing the driver, it's giving me the same old error message...

you could try uninstalling it from the Device Manager in Windows. Then re-scan for it: "Scan for Hardware Changes"
you should probably not have any thing open that *could* be using it when you do... just in case.

Thanks. That didn't make a difference, though. I have one last thing I'll try later, which involves flashing the firmware via a MIDI cable.
Re: Behringer BCR2000 and Windows 10 - no dice?
Sigh. For whatever reason, the BCR just doesn't work in USB mode. I can hook it up to the BCF via MIDI and kind of have them work as one unit, but as my usage is dependant on remote scripts for the individual units, this isn't going to work for me.
Ah well, at least I finally get to enjoy the motorised faders on the BCF fully again, thanks to Isotonik's BCF XL script.

What about the basics and doh! stuff like swapping the cable, using different ports, installing the units in differnet order, compatibility mode for 7 or XP, uninstlling drivers/software/registry keys from prior atrrempts, Run As Administrator, etc??

Check, check and checkity-checkk.
I've now also tried it on my laptop, and the same thing happens, so I'm just gonna have to give up on this one.

well if mothergarage can get the same model to work and it's plug and play... then the only thing left is firmware issues. i wonder if it got hosed during the update process.
