Hey, I'm a guitarist and play over beats/bass in Live.
I'd like to control them live, which would obviously be done best with my feet.
Launching rows would be the main thing I'd want to do. Crossfader's asking a bit much!
I've got an APC40, but putting my feet on pads I press with my finger seems gross.. and it's not sturdy.
And MIDI controllers like the Behringer FCB1010 has a layout clearly intended for amp patches.
- Can I configure any MIDI switches to launch rows?
- Are there any floor-based controllers that are more Ableton-friendly than the FCB1010?
Cheers

You could set up a KMI Softstep to send just about any MIDI message.

just so you know, that review is for the first version of the SoftStep, the MK II version came out a few years ago...

Re: Floor-based MIDI controller for Live?
I like the Line 6 FBV controllers. The mkII Express (~$99) has 4 switches & an expression pedal with two functions. The Shortboard mkII (~$200) has 13 switches & an expression pedal with two functions. All can be set to send any note/cc you want from each pedal. I own both & they work flawlessly with Live. Looks like the Shortboard may have been discontinued/replaced with the FBV 3 which has a similar footprint (13 switches/dual expression pedal), and sounds like it can be configured the same way as previous models - but I don't have any 1st hand experience with the 3.

i use a softstep 2. totally love it, massively programmable, tough and lightweight. i made my own MFL patch for it, works great
