Audio samples constantly re-buffering

Hi,

I have an issue mostly when I have audio playing with another application such as iTunes or Chrome. When I go back to Ableton, all of my audio clips need to buffer again, just like when I first load the set. It makes the whole set very slow to respond and takes a lot of time when there's a lot of samples. Is this normal?

maybe you don't have enough RAM to handle everything at once. what are your computer specs?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I doubt that would be the case. There is however a big number of audio samples in that set and quite long ones (it's a DJ set in which I've put a large number of tracks). Just wondering if that happens to anyone else and if there's anything one can do to avoid it...

have you tried using Activity Monitor to see what's up?

MP3s in a folder not enclosed in the project folder.

Try making your decoding cache larger, it's in the File Folder preference in Live.
