connecting hardware

Post by 5dn » Tue Aug 28, 2018 11:09 am

Dear Abletoners,

I recently acquired:

Alesis V49
O-coast Make Noise
Sherman Filterbank 2

I know about audio routing and have an external soundcard but am wondering how to get MIDI (or another format) information into Ableton (surely using USB from the Alesis)
But also OUT of ableton to the Make Noise

what gear do I need (cheapest pls)

Thanks for any help,

5D

What soundcard do you have? If it only has audio ins/outs and no MIDI ports, you'll need to purchase a MIDI interface to act as the bridge between your computer and the Make Noise device. From there, you'd just send the MIDI info from Ableton via the External Instrument device in Live (once everything is set up, of course). The Alesis controller should be able to just transmit MIDI data into Live via USB.
