Aggregated device audio routing persistence failure ??

Post by julienb » Tue Oct 09, 2018 2:02 pm

Hi there,

I'm currently building my new hybrid setup modular + machines + Live.

I'm using an Audio Aggregated device in Live in order to aggregate my 2 sound interfaces (RME Fireface UC + ES8 eurorack module) at the system level. Works fine.

BUT.. It seems to loose the audio in/out preferences windows setup name.
That is VERY annoying and it cuts my workflow every time.

Test done just now:
- Both sound interfaces connected and powered up
- I create my liveset + setup all correct names and enables for in/out
- I save it and quit and reload... no problem.

As soon as I open the liveset with one of my both interfaces not powered up (for instance, at home when I left the studio, for working outside of it)... even one time .... and without saving .... IT LOOSES the setup and I have to do it again.... Indeed, I connect/power up my both interfaces, I re-open the liveset .... ALL HAS GONE.

I logged that to support early moment of Live 10 but no solutions.

Anyone ???

I can confirm that triple times.
Just retested.

Even if I don't save the live set when I open it without my sound interfaces enabled, the Preferences.cfg file is modified forever and when I redo the process with my sound interfaces enabled... No more configuration :? :? :?

This is interesting. I'm having a somewhat similar problem on my Mac that only started happening in the last week.

Boot live, load a set. Push 2 hangs on the start-up screen. I have to open Audio Midi Setup, navigate to MIDI devices and either set up a new profile and/or delete a profile. I have to do this every single time.

I'm running High Sierra and the latest version of Ableton (10.3 I think).

I wonder if this is related to your problem?

Actually, it only happens with audio in my case.
BUT very annoying in case of hybrid setup with multiples interfaces

Have you tried playing with saving each configuration as a template set?

https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/manag ... plate-sets

You could also potentially grab a certain configuration's preferences file from it's file folder location and store someplace else. When you know you will be using that configuration, you could place that specific preferences file back in the appropriate location.

Mac location of the preferences file:
Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live x.x.x/

It is a hidden folder

Having the same issues, it inly works when both soundcards are switched on and you start ableton.
If you forget to switch on the aggregate sc when launching, all ins/outs are gone (v9.7).

10.0.6 solved it. That's now heaven on earth.

Any chance this could be fixed for v9 ?
I’m not updating anytime soon...
