Hi,
As the subject says -- am I the only one who finds it strange / unpleasant that once a mod routing is added to the matrix, it can never be removed for that patch? You can null the mod depth, yes, but you cant remove the routing itself..
I do *a lot* of programming experimentation when working on sound design. This means trying out modulations that might very well not work well, at which point I'd prefer to remove the routing rather than having it sit there forever, empty.
After a while, my mod matrix gets huge, I'm having to scroll all over the place, and many of the included routings are actually not doing anything, because I tried them, didn't want them, nulled them, but there they sit....
See what I mean? Wouldn't it be nice to have the option to *remove* the routing after it has been added, rather than the current design of just endlessly piling up the routings?
thanks, -M

Seems you have to click on the knob/slider of the (nulled) parameter you want deleted to "select it", and then when you click another knob/slider it disappears.Click on a parameter in the instrument to make it appear temporarily in the matrix. If you apply modulation to this parameter, it will remain in the matrix. If no modulation is applied, the parameter will disappear from the matrix when you click another parameter. Note that the Matrix tab and MIDI tab share the same rows.

Sorry, but that' doesn't work. The manual text you quoted is only referring to how targets appear in the matrix whenever you click on anything in the synth that currently doesn't have modulation applied. They only 'disappear' if no modulation has been applied at all, ever. If you apply modulation, then null it, the parameter does not disappear, it remains.pottering wrote:https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/live- ... matrix-tab

Try it for yourself... add some modulation, then null the modulation, then try to 'remove' the parameter from the matrix. You can't.

Re: Wavetable: why can't I remove mod routings from matrix?
It works here:
Gotta click the knobs/sliders in the GUI, not in the matrix.
I guess it is because otherwise rows could keep disappearing when you switched params in the matrix, before you set up all the modulations you want, which would be way more annoying.
(BTW, I was not trying to "emote" with the cursor movement, it was just indecision and lack of dexterity.)

Aha! Hey, thank you for this, I get it now, awesome. The video definitely makes it much clearer
cheers!

Why doesn't this work with my ableton 10?
