how to make this kick and percussion sound

Post by JZJZJZ » Wed Nov 21, 2018 6:12 pm

Hello hello,

Does any of you know how to the kick and mid percussion sounds from the beginning of this track were made? Love how they add up. Think I heard this kick sound before, I think.

Probably just samples, as is the case with most percussion you'll hear. If you're interested in learning how to create your own stuff from absolute scratch, Operator is more than capable and I think this is a pretty good video to introduce you to that approach:

Outside of that, good sample selection and/or experimenting with sample layering. You could also look into specialized plugins like Sonic Academy's Kick 2 or d16 PunchBox - they're nice and can streamline the process, but by no means do anything that isn't already possible in Live.
