Decipher Mackie Control script

Post by ANDERJAM21 » Thu Dec 06, 2018 8:49 pm

I have a Behringer X32 soundboard, with a DAW control feature that emulates the Mackie MCU. I select the Mackie Control script in Ableton's prefs, and am getting great results with my X32.

The problem is I'm poking around in the dark, reprogramming the buttons on the X32 note by note, trying to determine what each one does. Some functions are obvious and consistent, others are not obvious and inconsistent, and some midi note numbers do nothing.

I wish there was a way to decipher the Mackie Control script, to see what all the available features are. I doubt I'll want to modify the script, since there is already so much functionality available, but I would very much like to see some kind of list of available actions and their corresponding midi numbers. Particular areas of interest are device control, tap tempo, and nudge forward/backward.

The decompile Mackie Control scripts in question are at https://github.com/gluon/AbletonLive9_R ... kieControl.

I'm new to control scripts and python, and any help interpreting these scripts would be greatly appreciated!

Best way would be to look at the MCU template for Live and then match those buttons with whatever the Behringer one uses.

The "User Assigned" buttons on the MCU do nothing by default so you only need to worry about the others.

There are also shift functions and the likes and being a different layout somer things may not translate properly but I am sure you could make a cheat sheet with a bit of time

In the older versions (Live 8?) of the manual there was a chapter on the details of MCU operation.

there's a couple of different versions of an MCU MIDI map floating around the web. here are a couple of links:

also, i think the Live 7 User Manual was the last one that included the Mackie Control chapter. you can download the PDFs of older Live manuals here:
