Auto compression

Hi guys.

Someone just told me that ableton has a sort of auto compressor when tracks peaks are near to 0 dB. And the best way to mix a multitrack is to keep them under - 12 dB for each track. This would let you stay away from that compression. Do any of you know that?

That is not true, there is no auto compression in Live.
