Hi Forum !

How do you do with Live 10 to get all the plugins in the custom VST folder?
Bien cordialement.

Salut,
You select a folder in Live preferences with the most of your plugins then you create Windows shortcuts (I don't know for OSX) of the other folders to your custom VST folder.
But I'm not sure to fully understand your question.

You create a Custom VST folder then have all those plugins loaded in this specific folder E.G on another drive E:\VSTs and have them split up is an Option so One is Instruments(x64) and another is Plugins(x64)

It keeps it organised but this will change when 10.1 and VST3 is added :/

Does these folders have special functions or registry as they aren't installed upon installation of the DAW or plug ins themselves?Reason i asked is because i realized i didn't have a vst 32 bit folder when i could place the 32 bit .ddls but then my concern is that if i make a folder and name it vst 32 that it wouldn't get recognized by the system and therefore placing the dll there will complicate things further.do i need to re install my daw and somehow maybe i missed a prompt asking me to create custom folders during installation process?

Do you need to use 32 bit plugins?

On a PC running 64 bit Windows you don’t need 32 bit plugins unless you’re using a 32 bit DAW or have plugins unavailable in 64 bit and use a 32 to 64 bit VST bridge (such as jbridge).

On a Mac, assuming you’re using a recent OS version, it and Live will be 64 bit and again there’s no need for 32 bit plugins.

That explains it.BTW,im on windows 7 64 bit platform.I have re installed Ableton and few vsts quite a few times due to signal issues with my minilab mk2 controller. Most of the time the plug ins have both 64/32 bit .dll so i thought i need to house all those inside their respective folders(last clean install vst 32 doesnt shwow up on program files x86) to make it work.I fond it weird then because some of the plug ins' .dlls placed in vst 64 folders cannot be accessed in Ableton, although some are accessible.(analog lab and spitfire audio but some others wont show even after i scanned the same folder over and over again.Any idea?

It’s been almost 5 years since I last used a Windows DAW, so to be honest I’d be guessing why plugins aren’t showing in Live if the path to the relevant folders has been correctly set in preferences. Unless you’re using Live 32 bit which might explain it.
