Count-In on playback

I searched for this but I think my understanding of Live is too limited to understand the answer I found. I have a live band playing. I need a couple of bars count-in for the drummer to count the band in. I can't figure it out.

Hi Henry,

I wondered this at first as well. But I changed how I put my tracks together and added 3 extra measures in the beginning of each song. I use an audio click track - not ableton's metronome. You can record ableton's click to an audio track. Easier to manipulate later for me......

I also use a "cue" track with a voice calling out parts. Cue and click routed to headphones, rest of tracks routed to pa and headphones

start click from start of bar 1
bar 1 - voice says name of song
bar 2 - voice says 1, 2 on beats 1 and 3
bar 3 - voice counts 1, 2, 3, 4
bar 4 - beginning of backing tracks

OK. Here's what I did. I created a midi track AND an audio track. With the click going I recorded me counting the song in, like above without the song title. Though that's a great idea. For now I'm only doing two songs with my band live, with Live 10. There will be more.

Then I created the midi track. I loaded some random electronic drum set from Live and inputted the strange time signature counts as clips. They mirrored the other clips in terms of length and follow instructions. I had another problem with trying to set the Live variations in the metronome click track. This way I could just ignore all of that.

Now the only thing I have left to figure out and set up is basic midi foot pedal for triggering the count-in, launching scenes and stop.

Thanks! I think I'm figuring this thing out
