Does a tempo change require stretch processing on a frozen track?

Hello all,
I'm working on a song that features several large tempo changes. My projects, as time goes on, start to become LARGE. The sole purpose of my using ableton is it's ability to freeze tracks to save CPU so I can get larger and larger projects. Now this particular song I'm havign trouble with because i've frozen all the tracks (ALL of them), and my CPU woes still exist. So I'm wondering if by "freezing" the tracks, is ableton taking into account the tempo changes? Or does it bounce out the audio at whatever tempo, and continue to process the audio from the tempo change?
