I need to work from the road so I have a Macbook pro i use with ableton. can i copy the folder of Packs from my PC and simply point my macbook version of Live to that folder in preferences? It sounds like it should work but Live seems to be indexing forever and with no resulting files found....?

just copy the folder wherever you want and just point Live to that location via prefs.
hardly any indexing should happen, afaik; that's how i've done it to my computers.
an alternative is to first copy them to the default User Lib location, and then change the location via prefs, and Live will copy them to the new place.
